Promise Yourself

The Optimist Creed

ccf

I came across these beautiful words last night as I was working on a new blog post. I decided to put that post on hold to share these powerful words with you all.  In his book Your Forces and How to Use Them Christian D. Larson challenges readers to use positive thinking to aid in their transformation to becoming greater, happier, and more fulfilled individuals.

As a huge believer in the power of thought, I found these words to be quite inspirational. Each of us has the power to create the life we envision for ourselves. Step into your power and allow yourself to feel what life will be like when you fully embody an optimistic way of thinking. Accept that you have the power to impact positive change both within yourself as well as within others. Spread thoughts of love, joy, and optimism wherever you go. Open your heart, mind and spirit to receiving all the gifts that come when you step fully into your truth.  Share your gifts with the world, and challenge yourself to be the best version of you every day. Inspire others to see beauty and excellence in all aspects of themselves. Acknowledge and celebrate in others joys and accomplishments. For when they are at their best they can help bring out the very best in you.

Hold those lessons from your past that will push you forward close to your heart. The mistakes, the risks, the struggles have all brought you to this very spot. Challenge yourself to let go of whatever might hold you back. Pack light; take only those things that will help you to become better. There will always be more for you to overcome and even more for you to achieve. Transcend your limits by grabbing hold of new challenges and experiences. Make time for whatever will aid you to cultivate your passions and bring you joy. Leave little time for envy, judgment, fear or doubt to distract you from being great. Live these truths each and every day. They are within us all and can be tapped into at any point in time. We have all the power we need to become greater, happier and more fulfilled individuals. We just need to believe it.

As we work together  side by side my clients will allow for their  inner curiosity and creativity to emerge in an effort to see beauty and possibility in all things. In 5 years I will continue to have the love and support of my significant other and that of my family. I will be happy, healthy and writing. My Responses to PermacultureProcess:

1. Do you have a  Bucket List… and why?

I do have a bucket list. I have a great many ambitions in life and I hope to work towards each and every one of them. It’s always nice to have your dreams and hopes written down. They serve as a friendly reminder of what holds value for you. Sometimes we need to be reminded of these types of things. It’s very easy to get lost in ones fast paced life and I find my bucket list helps to keep me grounded.  I like to look it over every once in a while to bring me back to the things I want to experience most in life. Whether the items on my list are small or large the feeling one gets from crossing something off of their bucket list is amazing! This year ill be crossing two items off and that’s a beautiful thing.

2. (if YES to no. 1) – What’s the last thing you crossed off your bucket list?

The last thing I crossed off my bucket list was to visit Paris. This came off the list about a year and a half ago. Paris was a place I had wanted to visit since childhood, so it was amazing to finally have the opportunity to go. Since this trip I have added several new destinations I would like to someday see. Anything is possible you just have to believe it. 222721_591009929522_3610874_n

3. What personality trait do you love the most about yourself?

I have to say my ambition is a personality trait I love most. It has pushed me to strive towards making a difference in this world and  it empowers me each and everyday to work at becoming the best possible version of myself that I can be.

4. Do you like where you work right now?

I enjoy where I work very much. No day is the same, which I love, and I get to help children and families to experience positive changes in their lives. No matter where life takes me career wise I will be content as long as the position enables me to help others.

5. What’s the last thing you photographed? (With iPhone or otherwise)

The last thing I photographed was my dog/son Samuel. He turned 12 on February 26th and I just love him to bits. I have had Sam since he was a puppy. He has been by my side through some very tough times. He is just one of those little men that will always have a special place in my heart. 2006_752578380052_555266810_n

Throughout my day you can be sure that I always have a notebook and pen handy. I have really come to enjoy this hobby over the last few months and cannot wait to see where this new found passion takes me.

8. How would you “spiritually” describe yourself?

I’m slowly coming into my own when it comes to spirituality. I believe there is power in all of us and that it should be cherished and nurtured. As I begin to dive deeper and deeper into myself I am uncovering a new-found interest in spirituality and wonder. This curiosity is all very new to me but I am embracing it and letting it guide me to unchartered territory. Where the journey will lead me I do not know, but I am excited to find out.

“The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can’t find them, they make them.” – George Bernard Shaw

Everyone is always talking about making a bucket list for themselves.  Typically included in these lists are individual goals, dreams and desired life experiences. One usually makes this list in the hope that all the things listed will ultimately be achieved before they die.

I tried to come up with my own bucket list the other day and it turned out to be quite an insightful experience. As I sat at my desk I questioned what types of goals I wanted to identify for myself.  I thought about the significance of this piece of paper and how it would make me feel a few years from now if I hadn’t achieved any of it. After a few minutes of thinking negatively I finally asked myself the following questions:

Overcoming Obstacles

Do you find that you have hit a wall in life? Have external stressors impacted the course of your life in a negative way? Do you even know where to begin in order to get your life back on track?

Life challenges come in varying shapes and sizes. Whether you are faced with an unpleasant event, a mild stressor, or a challenging life experience, these events can all have a significant impact on your life. How does one learn to cope with the curve balls constantly being thrown their way?

Obstacles will continue to present themselves in your life, but you have the power to determine how you respond. With every obstacle comes a new opportunity for growth and development. It takes a great deal of courage to decide when enough is enough, but only you have the power to make that call. Will you succumb to the circumstances thrust upon you or will you learn to make each obstacle work in your favor?

If you can adopt the mindset that some of the experiences that happen to you are outside of your control then perhaps persevering through some of the challenging times won’t appear so out of reach . As human beings we have an amazing ability to adapt to our surroundings and the events we experience. While some individuals tend to adapt to certain situations better than others, it really all depends on the individual and their own limiting thoughts.

Whatever the life event, human beings have the ability to overcome the obstacles placed in their paths. This is not to say that overcoming obstacles is easy, quick, or requires little effort on the part of the individual. Is it possible?Yes!

-Ambition In The City

“There are two big forces at work, external and internal. We have very little control over external forces such as tornadoes, earthquakes, floods, disasters, illness and pain. What really matters is internal force. How do I respond to those disasters? Over that I have complete control.” Leo Buscaglia

“Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.” Napoleon Hill

To Work or To Play, That is the Question

I recently traveled to Paris and Amsterdam for a much needed getaway. After numerous stressful days at work my trip couldn’t have come at a better time. When i arrived at my first destination i vividly remember seeing an endless amount of green from my airplane window. I cannot explain how at peace i felt. I knew this was going to be a great trip.

From the moment i arrived in Amsterdam, to my very last day in Paris, i could not stop thinking about how much i needed this trip. I travelled to these places with my boyfriend and two of his closest friends. Although we have all travelled together in the past, this trip was different for so many reasons. We had all reached a point in our lives where work and the stresses of life were getting to us. We all needed to get away and we all needed some time to reevaluate our present way of life. Our trip to Paris and Amsterdam afforded us the opportunity to see a different way of living. We took in beautiful scenery, ate amazing food, and enjoyed the company of the many positive people around us. While we were surrounded by endless amounts of beauty, we were also surrounded by the idea that you don’t have to live to work, you should LIVE to LIVE.

Since my return to the States i have been on a “live to live” kick. I am trying to stress less about work, spend more time outdoors enjoying my friends and family, and i am not as concerned about planning for the future. I would much rather enjoy one day at a time. If you ever get the chance to travel and see how other people live i would suggest you soak in as much of their culture as you can. You can learn a lot from those around you. There is so much more to life than just working to pay your school loans off or saving for that big dream house. Live for today! You can still be responsible and enjoy your life to the fullest. Splurge on the dress in that boutique you always pass by. Indulge in a last minute getaway just because you know you need it. You may come to find down the road that those things you thought were such a priority only kept you from enjoying your life the way you really wanted to. I’ll never forget Paris and Amsterdam. NEXT YEAR ITALY!!
